Back in December, I photographed Skye’s sixth birthday party in Santa Monica. Skye loves ice skating, so her mom reserved a beautifully decorated cabana at ICE, an outdoor ice-skating rink, which is open during the holiday season. Skye prefers superheroes over princesses, so mom got extra points for hiring Batgirl and Supergirl to fly in and entertain guests. The superheroes were super-helpful with the kids and even put on ice-skates to escort some of Skye’s friends around the slippery ice.
It was a beautiful sunny day and lunch arrived just in time as the kids returned to the cabana. There was food to satisfy the palette of most six-year-olds, including pizza, sandwiches, potato chips and cookies.
Skye and her friends had a fabulous time enjoying the sunshine, tasty food, and ice. I had fun photographing the bright and colorful party and especially enjoyed capturing candid and action shots of the ice-skaters.
