Earlier this year I was hired to be a San Diego event photographer at the San Diego Convention Center and Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. I worked with Atlanta based event photographer Robb Cohen to provide event photography for the 2015 American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting and Exposition. Each year the American Pharmacists Association holds their annual meeting in a different city and attracts over 6,000 pharmacists from around the world with the goal to hold educational and panel discussions, certification training, and to award those individuals who have fielded advancements within the pharmaceutical industry. It is also a great place for professionals to network and make connections on a more personal level.
I documented the Welcoming Social with a presentation to Joe Moose who was honored with the APhA Community Pharmacy Residency Excellence in Precepting award. The next morning I photographed the Nuclear Pharmacist Breakfast Meeting with an award presentation to Richard A. Nickel who received the William H. Briner Distinguised Achievement Award in Nuclear Pharmacy Practice. I then set up a photography studio area in a banquet room and spent most of the afternoon taking professional business headshots and promotional photos of the APhA attendees. My day concluded with documenting the Remington Banquet at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel to honor Calvin H. Knowlton, BSPharm, MDiv, PhD, the recipient of the Remington Honor Medal who was presented the award by Mr. Matt Osterhaus, APhA president.
While it was an extremely busy day doing the convention photography for this event, I felt very inspired to be around a group of successful, intelligent individuals and being able to get a small glimpse into their line of work.
